Connect your field reports with ChatGPT and Claude

OBRATEC is the construction report software that connects to ChatGPT and Claude through an MCP server (https://mcp.obratec.app/mcp), with 52 tools to create, look up and publish field reports from the AI itself. You can connect two ways: with an API key for tools like Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code, or as a custom connector with OAuth 2.1 in claude.ai and ChatGPT. You start in read-only mode and need to turn on write permission to create or publish; publishing always asks for confirmation. To connect from ChatGPT you need a paid ChatGPT plan (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu) with Developer Mode turned on; in Claude you add it directly as a connector.

Connect my account

OBRATEC and AI, on video

See it in action: one account, ChatGPT and Claude

With OBRATEC's connector you run your job site by talking to the AI you already use, and the same account works in ChatGPT and in Claude. In the video, a project is created, the AI writes a field report with six photos, a change order is built with BCCA prices (Spain only), it's sent for approval to two signers and the PDF is published to the client; then, in ChatGPT, the manuals are looked up without making anything up and a subcontractor is added to request their hours report.

Your week on the job site, talking to ChatGPT and Claude. «Create the Residencial Azahar project for me.» «Create the site visit report and describe my six photos»: the AI writes the description. «Build the change order with the BCCA prices» and the total adds up on its own. «Send it to both parties to sign»: Claude confirms before sending the emails. «Publish the report and send it to the client.» The same account, the same job site, the other AI. In ChatGPT: «how do I request an hours report from a subcontractor?» It explains from the manuals, without making it up. «Add Fontanería Ruiz and request the reports»: ChatGPT confirms both emails before requesting them. Your whole job site, by voice, in ChatGPT and Claude. Start free.

Ask Claude for your field reports. And it creates them by voice. You need three things: your Claude account (any will do), your OBRATEC account and the connector address. Go to claude.ai. Bottom left, on your name, click Settings. Inside, open Personalize and scroll down to custom connectors. Add custom connector. Name: OBRATEC. Paste the connector address and click Add. No key yet. Now OBRATEC asks for permission: you sign in with your account, review and authorize. This is OAuth 2.1: no keys, no risk. You go back to Claude, connected. Open a new chat and ask for your latest reports. It replies with your real data. You start in read-only; to create or publish reports, you authorize one more time. Your job site, inside Claude. Start free, fourteen days.

What you can do from ChatGPT and Claude

52 tools across 13 categories:

  • Reports (16): Tell the AI to create the site visit report, add the observations and the photos or audio —attaching them right in the chat or by link—, write it up and leave it ready to send to the client, without opening the app.
  • Projects (3): Check which job site you're on, what reports it has, and create the new project by asking the AI.
  • Change orders (9): Raise a change order, edit it, send it for approval or cancel it, check its status and track who has signed it, all from the chat.
  • Trades (5): Add new subcontractors and review which reports are still pending and which are already validated, without going to look for them.
  • Knowledge (2): Ask the AI about the documentation and standards you already have saved in your account.
  • Help & manuals (1): Answer questions about how OBRATEC works by searching the help and manuals without leaving the chat.
  • Patricia (1): Look up any past report and BCCA prices (Spain only) by asking as you would a coworker who has read them all.
  • Branding (5): Adjust your logo and the PDF colors so every report comes out with your company's look.
  • Account (2): Check your plan, your limits and what you've used without leaving the conversation.
  • Google Drive (3): Check whether you have auto-save to Google Drive connected, adjust your preferences and, when you publish, drop the PDF into your Drive organized by project.
  • Cadastral registry (Spain only) (3): Ask the AI for the cadastral reference of an address, the data for a parcel, or to put it into the report you're writing — without opening the cadastral office. (Spain only.)
  • Feedback (1): Send your feedback about OBRATEC from the chat itself and it reaches the team directly, without leaving the conversation.
  • Widget in ChatGPT (1): Ask ChatGPT to show you a report as a visual card inside the chat; in Claude and the other clients you'll see the same data.

OBRATEC's MCP server is a thin proxy over the same API as the app: the AI can only do what your plan and your role already let you do.

How to connect OBRATEC with your AI

With an API key (Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf)

For people who work with developer tools that accept a key in the header.

  1. Go to OBRATEC and open Settings → Developers (only account admins can see this tab).
  2. Generate an API key: it starts with obk_. Copy it once, because it won't be shown again.
  3. In your tool, add the server https://mcp.obratec.app/mcp and paste the key into the X-API-Key header or as Bearer obk_…
  4. Ask the AI for your latest reports to check that it connects. You start in read-only; turn on write permission when you want to create or publish.

As a custom connector with OAuth 2.1 (claude.ai and ChatGPT)

For people who use ChatGPT or Claude in the browser and don't want to copy or store keys.

  1. In claude.ai, add a custom connector with the address https://mcp.obratec.app/mcp. In ChatGPT, first turn on Developer Mode in Settings → Apps → Advanced settings (requires a Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu plan) and then press Create and paste that same address.
  2. Sign in with your OBRATEC account on the screen that appears.
  3. Review which permissions you grant and confirm on the consent screen. You don't copy or paste any key.
  4. Done. The AI is connected with read-only permission; write permission is granted separately, and publishing always asks you for confirmation.

For now it connects as a custom connector that you set up yourself (in ChatGPT, from Developer Mode). OBRATEC is not yet listed in the official connector directory of Claude or ChatGPT, and it doesn't need to be to connect it.

Security and permissions

  • The AI only accesses what you can already see: the MCP server inherits your account, your role and the separation between companies, so no one touches another organization's data.
  • The AI doesn't see your API key: in connector mode you sign in with your own login and consent, and the key never passes through the model.
  • The AI doesn't invent email recipients: the email tools only send to the recipients you already have configured, and the subcontractor's email is resolved on the server without being returned to the AI.
  • Published reports are locked: as in the app, only drafts can be edited, and publishing requires write permission plus your confirmation.
  • Photos, audio and logos by link go through a filter: only public https URLs are accepted, with the real file type and a maximum size of 10 MB for photos and audio, and 2 MB for the logo.

Frequently asked questions about connecting OBRATEC with AI

Does OBRATEC connect to ChatGPT or to Claude?

To both. OBRATEC exposes an MCP server (https://mcp.obratec.app/mcp) that works with both ChatGPT and Claude, plus tools like Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf. You pick the one you already use; the server is the same.

What exactly can I do from the AI?

Create, look up and publish field reports, manage projects, raise change orders, review subcontractor reports, adjust the branding of your PDFs, ask Patricia about past reports, look up the Spanish cadastral registry (Spain only), save the PDFs to Google Drive and check your plan. That's 52 tools across 13 categories. The AI can only do what your plan and your role already let you do.

Can I look up the cadastral registry from ChatGPT or Claude? (Spain only)

Yes (Spain only). From the chat you can ask the AI for the cadastral reference of an address, the public data for a parcel (area, use, year built) by cadastral reference, address or coordinates, or to put that data into the report you're writing, without opening the cadastral office. OBRATEC queries the public web services of Spain's Directorate-General for Cadastre (public data, no ownership or personal data).

Does it work with ChatGPT and Claude at the same time?

Yes. You can have your OBRATEC account connected in ChatGPT and in Claude at the same time, and even in developer tools with an API key. They all talk to the same MCP server (52 tools) and respect the same permissions.

Can I upload site photos to a report from ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes, from ChatGPT (web and mobile app) and from Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop). In ChatGPT you attach the photo right in the chat and the AI adds it to your draft report: OBRATEC downloads it and analyzes it. In Claude it works the same with a one-time setting: go to Settings → Capabilities, turn on «Code execution and file creation» and add the domain obratec.app under «Additional allowed domains»; then attach the photo and ask it to add it to the report. As an alternative, in any assistant you can pass the photo by a public https link or upload it from the OBRATEC app itself, without touching any setting. The same goes for a voice note.

Is it safe to connect my account?

The MCP server is a thin proxy over OBRATEC's own API, so it inherits your account, your role, the separation between companies and your plan's limits. In connector mode you sign in with your login and a consent screen where you see which permissions you grant. The AI never sees your API key.

Can the AI delete or publish reports without my permission?

No. You start in read-only mode, which changes nothing. Creating or editing requires turning on write permission, and publishing a report always asks you for confirmation first. Reports that are already published are locked, just as they are inside the app.

Does the AI see my API key or my credentials?

No. In connector mode with OAuth you sign in with your own login and the key never passes through the model. If you use an API key in a developer tool, the key lives in that tool's configuration, not in the conversation with the AI.

Do I need to know how to code?

Not for connector mode. In ChatGPT or Claude you add the server address, sign in and accept the permissions. The API key is for developer tools like Claude Code or Cursor, but anyone can set up the custom connector in a few minutes.

What ChatGPT plan do I need to connect OBRATEC?

To connect OBRATEC as a custom connector in ChatGPT you need a paid ChatGPT plan (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu) and to turn on Developer Mode in Settings → Apps → Advanced settings. ChatGPT's free plan doesn't allow connecting MCP servers, and it's a beta feature whose availability may vary by region. In Claude you don't need a developer plan: you add it as a connector directly. This is a ChatGPT requirement, not an OBRATEC one: the connector is included in every paid OBRATEC plan.

Is OBRATEC in the official Claude or ChatGPT directory?

Not yet. OBRATEC is not yet listed in the official connector directory of Claude (Anthropic) or ChatGPT (OpenAI), and it doesn't need to be to use it: you connect it today as a custom connector, in claude.ai and ChatGPT through OAuth 2.1, without copying keys; and in Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or Windsurf with an API key from your account. Appearing in those directories would only make it easier to find; it doesn't imply review, certification or endorsement by Anthropic or OpenAI.

What does the AI integration cost?

The integration is included in your OBRATEC plan, at no extra cost. The plans are Basic ($15/month) and Professional ($49/month), and both come with a 14-day free trial, no card. What the AI can do depends on your plan and your role.

Can the AI send emails to addresses it makes up?

No. The email tools only send to the recipients you already have configured in the report. The subcontractor's email is resolved on the server and isn't returned to the AI, so the model can't write or pick a new address.

What if my plan is a trial or has expired?

The integration respects your account status just like the app. During the trial it works with all your plan's capabilities. If the trial expires and you don't continue, the account goes read-only: you can keep looking things up, but you can't create or publish until you activate a plan.
